Multiple Hurt as Turbulence Impacts Delta Flight Landing at Sydney
Several people have been injured when a Delta Airlines aircraft from Los Angeles to Sydney was hit by turbulence Friday morning.
Flight DL41 "experienced a brief period of turbulence" as it landed at Sydney Airport, an airline spokesperson stated. Four flight attendants sustained injuries.
Local paramedics stated they treated five individuals, and transported three to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries that comprised back pain and headaches. The patients' ages were between their 30s up to the 70s.
It is the latest incident of planes experiencing atmospheric disturbance, with experts indicating that global warming is a key driver.
There were nearly 250 travelers and 15 crew members on the Airbus A350, the official added, adding that the plane arrived "safely and normally" at the airport at 6:48 a.m. local time on Friday.
Paramedics reported they were alerted just a mere three minutes ahead of the plane touched down, and emergency vehicles were waiting on the tarmac.
