It's difficult for the Australian squad to achieve unprecedented feats.

The highest peaks have been successfully scaled.

We're talking about the team that has won seven Cricket World Cups, along with six more T20 titles, and previously enjoyed 1,294 days without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, those for the record chasers, are the only things left for a team that has accomplished all there is.

It needed until Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to complete their first ODI chase over 300, regaining their record for the highest in the female 50-over format, is, honestly, a tribute to the bowlers that have represented Australia over the last half-century.

It's difficult for their batsmen to maintain a record if not afforded the chance.

In the end, the consequence of Australia giving up 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy receiving a chance to create her most recent brilliance.

Initially recognized as the teenage relative of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after Australia didn't secure either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups from the prior year and has experienced everything through 15 successful years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup came three months after her debut and seven international trophies have resulted from 10 attempts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India briefly halted the winning streak.

That loss "pushed us to rethink our standards," Healy said this week.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the championship match and was named player of the tournament. She ensured her country would not fail again.

The question of whether this recent magnificent innings surpassed that earlier display can be debated.

Certain people claim the case for championship match pressure. Some might respond with the test that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What is certain is this century was much more difficult to see coming.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 happened while she topped the run-scoring charts, but this knock followed six innings in India since the start of last month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've observed me in practice sessions, it was a frustrating experience because it seemed I lacked timing completely," said Healy.

"However when you step out on the field, your competitive instincts activate and you just lock into the match."

Healy's competitiveness has always been her key asset - and a priceless quality in replacing iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, fallen to the emerging pace bowler in every game, but here that only provided Healy's spark.

A single came off the bowler's initial ball and after that the right-hander was underway.

"An opportunity to play and lock in a contest with her and just have a bit of fun in that aspect, sort of got me going," stated Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 balls - her quickest at the global tournament - and her hundred in 84 deliveries while she flogged anything short, striking 21 boundaries and three big hits.

Once she was dismissed the team needed 66 more at a run-a-ball - an achievable target now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Chasing 330 runs is uncharted waters so I am glad we have the assurance to do that now," stated Healy further.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it again but, if we do, we are confident we can succeed."

That comment will be the ultimate thing Australia's opponents at this tournament should hear.

In recent days a sense they will win from any position has only strengthened - this victory succeeding victory over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite struggling at 76-7 at one point.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a match against longtime competitors England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final place may well be secure.

It was in the semi-finals they left the previous year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a match Healy was absent due to damaged tissue in her foot as she led her country for the inaugural occasion at a significant event.

So strong is her resolve, she afterwards commented she regretted not playing despite the injury.

But while she subsequently acknowledged those fitness problems have pushed back plans to retire, this World Cup is likely to be her last as captain in 50-over cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a global event as captain.

Success in India would take her to the summit of her ultimate challenge.
